Do not be Afraid

My name is Jerry, living in Columbus, Ohio with my wife (Jennifer) and Children (Jeana and Josh). Jenni and I are taking a step forward to declare our faith to everyone through this testimony because of a recent experience we encountered with Christ through a lawsuit filed against me by my previous employer.

While it is undoubtful our God works in a mysterious way full of surprises in our lives, this incident gave me the true realization that nothing is impossible for God even in the most unpredictable situation.

I worked for that organization for 14 years, left in late 2020 and joined a New York based startup, a fully remote job. While everything was moving peacefully in our life, came a “Legal Notice” in September 2021 from them as “Breach of Non-Compete”.

I had multiple conversations with their legal counsel clarifying the nature of my new job / role, however nothing turned positive, and they were forcing me to quit my current job with their claim for breaking the restrictions.

I prayed for this situation, but I put my trust in people and contacts I had in that organization to help and resolve, instead leaning on Christ. However, Jenni had faith in Jesus, as he will fight this battle for us.

I was legally sued in July 2022, alleging multiple claims. My current employer was very grateful to defend me, and got me introduced to attorneys. They took the aggressive legal approach with throwing motions one after the other continuously, to keep us off-balance, restless, exhaust emotionally, build fear and be defensive to only respond to their motion.

It was the most stressful time for us, as we lost trust in everyone, ran around to multiple people for suggestions and started doubting the ability of my attorneys.

In-parallel, I was going through discovery and depositions, and was called for a Court Trial on Monday 5th Dec 2022. I was having a preparatory session with my attorney on Saturday and was very bad with my responses to her questions as I was nervous about the trial on Monday.

On Sunday at Gracepoint Church, Pastor Terry preached the Exodus series Chapter 14: Between the Devil and The Deep Red Sea” through verse 13 ...“Do not be afraid. Stand still, and see the salvation of the LORD, which He will accomplish for you today... 14

"The LORD will fight for you, and you shall hold your peace.” He further preached through scenarios we come across in our lives with the below quotes: When I panic, I run. When I run, I lose. When I lose, God waits. When I wait, God fights. When God fights, He wins. When He wins, I learn.

- the miracle power of God

and that was the breakthrough moment where we truly realized / experienced the presence of Jesus and hearing him speaking and comforting, and we rolled with tears. We came back home from church; received encouraging bible verses from family and friends at the same time, a couple of verses touched personally are “Luke 12: 12 for the Holy Spirit will teach you at that time what you should say” from Bevin (CLF) and ”Isaiah 54:17 No weapon that is formed against thee shall prosper; and every tongue that shall rise against thee in judgment thou shalt condemn. This is the heritage of the servants of the LORD, and their righteousness is of me, saith the LORD” from Jerome (CLF).

The trial went the whole day, and few things happened miraculously in ref to above verses :

  1. Witnesses represented by the opposing party - one stumbled with his responses and could not present any facts, the other one (my ex-manager) spoke in favor of me.
  2. While I was testifying, I responded with No Fear, and that moment I experienced it was our Lord who was answering on my behalf.
  3. My attorney felt the entire trial was God’s leading and told she was also praying for me in her church that Sunday! Till that moment, we didn't speak about our religion or faith. Again, it was HIS plan by sending a God fearing attorney to represent me.

Magistrate ended the trial, and miraculously the judgement came in my favor with denial to their motion.

However, a couple of their open claims continued with back and forth on evidence / data collection / depositions throughout 2023. Soon, thereafter the Judge called both the parties for final submission of our motion, with a 3 days of Civil Jury Trial scheduled in March 2024. We prayed and made our submission in Jan 2024. During this waiting period, we received multiple revelations through Jesus from our friends in CLF:

The trial went the whole day, and few things happened miraculously in ref to above verses :

  • Allwyn - Shared a vision highlighting the story of David and Goliath, and told its coming to an end.
  • Sundari - Shared a dream that she received with a Judge ordering in Court with the hammer, and felt its coming to an end.
  • Vipin - Shared that he received a prophecy from a Pastor (who I don't know) in their prayer group revealed that someone in your Church is going through a Court / Legal issue, and he’s seeing it coming to an end.

Jenni and I were firmly strong in our faith and ready to accept whatever the judgement as God’s Will. On Sunday Feb 18th, I was reading II Chronicles 20: 15 … Thus says the Lord to you: ‘Do not be afraid nor dismayed because of this great multitude, for the battle is not yours, but God’s. 17 You will not need to fight in this battle. Position yourselves, stand still and see the salvation of the Lord, who is with you!’ Do not fear or be dismayed; tomorrow go out against them, for the Lord is with you.”

As said in the verse, the next day the trial status in the court portal changed from “Continued” to “Vacated”, followed by, we received Summary Judgement with CASE DISMISSAL to all their claims and motions. It was also ordered that they need to bear all the court fees.

The opposing party didn't expect my current employer would defend and support me with all the legal expenses, but they didn't realize it is our God orchestrating everything here and fighting this battle.

We are extremely thankful to everyone who prayed and supported us throughout the journey! We felt the work of the Holy Spirit across everyone receiving the revelations and responses to the prayers. All the praise and glory to our God!
